Helping you get from where you are to where you want to be!

Cliff Katz, PhD

I received my PhD degree from the University of Texas at Austin in Counseling Psychology in 1981 and completed my clinical internship at the UT Counseling Center. My doctoral dissertation was in the area of stress and psychological hardiness. My career as a psychologist has provided me with the opportunity to work with clients experiencing life stress in a variety of settings, both work and career-related and in their personal lives.

I was the founding Director of the Employee Assistance Program at UT Austin and have worked as a counseling psychologist in a variety of settings including a student counseling center, an Employee Assistance Program, and as a corporate psychologist providing executive coaching to business leaders and healthcare professionals.

Other professional experiences included providing counseling services to youthful trainees in the U.S. Jobs Corps, and providing behavioral health intervention in assisted living centers and rehabilitation hospitals.  In addition, I have held adjunct faculty positions at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, the University of Texas at Austin, and at St. Edward’s University in Austin.

My breadth of experience has prepared me to help people across the adult lifespan who are anxious and struggling to deal with significant life stress.  Examples of stressful moments in life include: facing major life changes such as significant health challenges, job and career issues, and relationship difficulties, including divorce or death of a significant other.
